Bobz Choudhari is a photographer who chose to trade lines of code for lines of light.
With a background in Mechanical Engineering, B.F.A in photography and many years in IT, also Bobz spent more than a decade behind the camera by choosing photography as his full-time pursuit. His work moves between travel, documentary and everyday life, often finding stories in places and moments that others might simply walk past.

His work has received international recognition, with distinctions from organisations including FIAP, PSA, GPU and FIP, alongside awards and acceptances from photographers’ salons across the world.
Beyond making photographs, Bobz conducts photowalks, talks and workshops, sharing his experiences while encouraging photographers to look beyond the obvious.

For him, photography is not merely about making an image. It is about noticing what was already there and being present when light, life and timing decide to meet.

Natarajan Kalpat 1929-2017

Late Shri K N Natarajan, fondly known as Natarajan Kalpat, began his photographic journey as a member of the Andhra Pradesh Photographic Society (APPS) between 1966 and 1972. His keen eye and dedication quickly distinguished him among peers. During his professional tours, he often took fellow members along for weekend bird photography outings.

Closely associated with Raja Triambak Raj Bahadur, the founder of APPS, Natarajan spent long hours in his darkroom, which inspired him to set up his own at home. In Hyderabad, he worked alongside doyens such as Bhagwandas, OC Edwards and Rajan Babu. Later, in Madras, Trichy, and Bengaluru, he forged strong ties with stalwarts like Dr G Thomas, C Rajagopal, E Hanumantha Rao, and TNA Perumal, joining them on birding and other photographic expeditions.

In his autobiography, Natarajan recalled how he carried a small ladder in his car during birding trips. In the era before telephoto lenses, photographers had to approach birds within a few feet to capture them. His patience and skill allowed him to gain the confidence of even evasive species, sometimes close enough to touch them. These methods produced remarkable images that remain admired to this day.

Natarajan served with Burmah Shell and later Bharat Petroleum, retiring as a senior executive. Despite his professional responsibilities, his true passion lay in photography—particularly bird studies during the film era. His meticulous work earned recognition among naturalists and photographers alike.

His residence in Trichy became a hub for photographic, wildlife conservation, and ornithological discussions. It was here that he founded the Wildlife Conservation Society of Trichy (WILCOS), which played a pioneering role in grassroots conservation. Notably, the legendary ornithologist Dr. Sálim Ali once visited his home, a testament to Natarajan’s standing in the field. His family fondly remembers being invited as children to Raja Triambak’s residence for dinner, a cherished memory of those times.

In May 1977, WILCOS under Natarajan, conducted a systematic Blackbuck census at Point Calimere Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu, documented in the Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society. In 1972, Natarajan was awarded the prestigious AFIAP distinction, presented by the then President of India, Shri V V Giri, cementing his place among India’s respected photographic artists.

Born and brought up in Mysore. (29.11.1949). Studied up to B.A., Joined a private company as Sales Executive. During his career lived in Hyderabad for 14 years, then in Bangalore. Worked in the same company for 35 years and retired as All India Marketing Manager.

During his stay in Hyderabad, he learnt photography from late Mr Edward. Became a member of then Andhra pradesh Photographic Society. Became Joint Secretary, Secretary and was the president for two years. (1990-92) During his tenure one Hyderabad City Conference was conducted and Two Photography Exhibitions were conducted. Out of this one was exclusively a children photo Competition and Salon. He Participated in many National and International Photographic exhibitions and won many awards.

He participated in a work shop held at Varanasi by Indian Lalitha Kala Akademy along with 50 Artists and 10 Photogrphers. His six Varanasi photos are in Lalithakal Akademy Archive.

After retirement took intrest in literature and took up writing as his paasion. Now he writes both in Tamil and Kannada and translates from Tamil to Kannada and Kannada to Tamil. From Kannada to Tamil he has translated 40 books, and Tamil to Kannada 27 books from 2012 till 2026.

So far, he has won eleven awards in literature including Sahitya Akademy Award for translation in the year 2022.

My name is Sai Akhil Varma Datla, and photography has become one of the most meaningful parts of my creative journey. I started exploring photography with my Nikon D5300 DSLR, learning how light, timing, composition and patience can transform an ordinary moment into a memorable image. I enjoy experimenting with different angles and settings, but my strongest interest is wildlife photography. Capturing birds, animals, insects and natural surroundings gives me a sense of excitement and connection with nature. Wildlife photography also teaches me patience, observation and respect for every living creature. I’m an independent journalist, photographer, and translator; and author of a book on classical music  ‘Forgotten Composers’.

As a photographer I have had over one thousand photographs by me, altogether, published in leading  publications like The Hindu, Deccan Herald, National Geographic Traveller India, Mint,  Times of India, New Indian Express, The Hindu Business Line, firstpost, moneycontrol, Hans India,  inflight magazines, Bangalore Mirror, etc.  All were published alongside my articles as I write for these publications. 

My photos have been part of 29 group shows around India. My solo show ‘Voyage With The Lens’ at Alliance Francaise, Hyderabad, received very good reviews in the mainstream media, and from the public, despite little publicity.

I use very small cameras most of the time because of my mobility issues and Always shoot only in Auto Mode as I’m not conversant with camera technology.

A financial services executive by profession. I had an keen interest in photography from my childhood days. Though I never owned a camera for a long time I did borrow from my friends and relatives. Despite no access to resources like these days for learning photography I knew a lot from talking to friends. Infact I knew a tripod was important and i bought one before I bought a camera for myself. I bought my first camera in 1994. I had to settle for Cosina CS1 against my desire to own a Nikon. The cost of printing didn’t not permit me to pursue this hobby. I kept my camera aside till digital era came. For sometime used the aim and shoot cameras to preserve family memories.

Finally in 2009 acquired my first Dslr. All my learning was on field. Infact I did my phototour in 2011 where I met one of senior TPS members Mr Satyaprasad Yachendra. This lead to my ever enduring interest in landscapes. I also pursue other genres like Birding and wild life. Learning from him was a privilege. He also brought me into TPS. Then on it has been a delightful journey. Many members tuned my skills. Mr Ashok Kandimalla is another teacher from whom I continue to be guided. Some of our members who pursue salon photography urged me to participate in salons. Notable among them are Mr Janardhan Gullapalli, Mr Raj mannar. This lead me to work towards AFIP and AFAIP distinctions. I am indebted to many others here whom i am not able to acknowledge due to constraints of space.

Vuppuluri Sudhanshu’s photographic journey began as a curious hobby with a pro zoom camera during his education years. Over the last few years, he has taken a keen interest in wildlife photography and travel photography, to freeze unmissable and candid moments.

Hello, this is KSL Prasad, a photography hobbyist. What started out as witnessing something as simple as my father holding a vintage camera, turned into a lifelong passion as I grew older. Looking at his black and white pictures, I developed the interest of photographic storytelling.

I began my journey by capturing the various rock formations, in the vicinity of Hyderabad, a city well known for them, at the time. As an avid traveller, I love to capture the moments as I go along, unprepared and unplanned. But my main interest lies in expressing the chaos in the streets, the wonders of nature, the raw elegance of animals and the harmony of various architectures, and ancient structures.

One of my long time aspirations as a hobbyist is to go on an exclusive photography trip with my mobile and my Canon EOS 1300D, or something better, and record my journey through portraits and landscapes, as a means to tell a story.
