Our Roots, Our Light

Founded in 1957, the Telangana Photographic Society (originally the Andhra Pradesh Photographic Society) is one of the oldest photographic societies in India. Established by Raja Triambak Raj Bahadur, along with K. Thirumaleshwar, Ghanshyam Giri, V.R. Chitgopkar, and L. Jagannayakudu, the Society brought together a visionary group of early photography enthusiasts committed to advancing photographic knowledge and practice.

Over the decades, TPS became a nurturing space for both technical learning and artistic exploration. Renowned figures such as O.C. Edwards, celebrated for his wildlife photography, and B. Rajan Babu, known for his fine art work, played pivotal roles in mentoring generations of photographers.

Following the formation of the state of Telangana, the Society was renamed the Telangana Photographic Society, continuing its legacy with renewed vigour.

A Legacy in Focus

TPS today stands as a vibrant, not-for-profit community that welcomes photography enthusiasts from all walks of life. Whether you're holding a camera for the first time or are a seasoned professional, TPS offers a space to explore, learn, and grow together.

Our activities include monthly meetups, expert-led workshops, outdoor photo walks, and interactive critique sessions, all designed to fuel creativity and spark connection.

Today, TPS remains rooted in its founding values, community, creativity, and the pursuit of photographic excellence.
