Sriram Reddy

Sriram Reddy is a Hyderabad-based birdwatcher, photographer, and citizen science contributor whose journey into the world of birds began in 2015 after witnessing Greater Flamingos at Osman Sagar Lake. What started as curiosity about their behavior soon evolved into a deep passion for understanding birds, their habitats, and conservation. Though he spent many years working in the IT industry, he stepped away from that career to fully dedicate his time to birding, nature education, and documentation.

With roots in photography dating back to the film camera era, Sriram combines visual storytelling with scientific observation, capturing not just images but meaningful natural history moments, from raptors hunting in grasslands to subtle behavioral interactions among wetland birds. He is an active member of the Hyderabad Birding Pals, a birding community and plays a key role in collaborative initiatives such as the Hyderabad Bird Atlas, which engages hundreds of volunteers in documenting urban biodiversity.

Beyond fieldwork, Sriram has introduced the world of birds to the Forest Department, various universities in Hyderabad, and multiple photography clubs through talks, workshops, and guided sessions. He actively bridges the gap between science and public engagement, helping new audiences appreciate bird diversity and conservation. He also contributed to the development of the Birds of Telangana pocket guide for students and beginners. Through citizen science, storytelling, and community outreach, he continues to inspire a growing community of bird lovers.
